Nettle fibre is known for its strength and durability, making it ideal for bags and hard wearing items. This bag is practical and comfortable to carry over one shoulder or across body. The reinforced rim, gives structure and incorporated into the handle construction.
Check out the pocket necklace pattern, a handy project for surplus nettle yarn from this project.
This is a beginner friendly pattern, magic loop, double crochet and triple treble stitches are used.
Notes:
Handspun Nettle varies in gauge, the ply used in this pattern is equivalent to lace weight. Pattern is crocheted with two yarns held together. If using a thicker yarn (fingering), crochet using a single strand.
The pattern is written in UK terms. The base of the bag is worked in continuous rounds starting at the centre. Stitch markers or spare thread is required to mark the rounds.
Final round of the bag incorporates both the final reinforced edge and the handle construction.
